As I promised in yesterday’s post – if I could get a clear night I’d head out and capture some more night sky photographs. I hope to get out again when I can spend some more time walking around in the dark.
Daily Photo – A Clear Night in New England
Photographing the stars is one of my favorite things to photograph, but it does come with its challenges. While I didn’t get nearly as long as I’d wanted to get to photograph last night I was able to come away with a couple of cool photographs to share with you.
This particular shot was taken facing at 11m, f/2.8, ISO 800 for 20 seconds. When I have some more time I’m going to try and do an experiment to show you the differences between photographing at longer exposures, higher ISOs, and smaller apertures, but in general as far as night sky photography settings are concerned, the above are a pretty good starting point.
The next step for this location is to spend a few hours here and find a great location to create star trails, but that’s going to take some planning.
