Did you have a good weekend? Mine was excellent and I have some cool photographs to show you this week so make sure you’re coming back from time to time!
This short video, similar to the other two, contains more than 100 photographs taken over a period of three hours. The rotation in the stars is caused by the earth spinning on its axis. The things that appear as shooting stars are more likely to be airplanes, but if you’d like to pretend that they are shooting stars then by all means make your wish ;).
Time-lapse photography has become one of my favorite styles of photography. I enjoy the entire process from setting up the camera to fire off a photograph every few seconds for hours, to editing the final video. All three of these time-lapse videos include my own unique guitar improv that I recorded specifically for these videos using Apple’s Garageband.
Now the coolest thing about doing night sky time-lapse photography is that if you take all the photographs that go into making the timelapse video above and overlay them on-top of each other in a program like photoshop, with some tweaking, you’re able to create a unique photography featuring something known as star-trails. These lines are created from each of those individual exposures being so close to one another that when stacked on top of one another you end up creating a line.
With this photograph being only my second attempt (and really my first because at this point I still hadn’t processed the first one) I have a lot of room for improvement and I can’t wait to try this again. Now that I’ve gotten my feet wet with this style of photography, I’ll know a bit more about what I need to do to get the best results, and hopefully be able to speed up the set up process and streamline the editing process.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my site, I hope this photograph, and the video above, are something that you’d be willing to share with your friends and family. The more you share the better!
