Live, Love and Laugh Your Way Through Life

Welcome again to Phogropathy.com – Or maybe it’s your first time here! – If so why not check out my About Me Page and get to know Phogropathy a bit better!

I’d just like to say that I’m absolutely loving my 50mm f/1.8 and today’s photograph is one of the first times I was really able to take it out and experiment. Of course, it was also my first time with a model, so things were a bit rocky. Today’s photograph is one of those breaking the tension moments if you will – hope you like it!

Daily Photo – Live, Love and Laugh Your Way Through Life

Alycia3-671x1024

As promised here’s another photograph from my recent session photographing Alycia, my first model, if you missed it you can see the first portrait I posted here.

Throughout this session I kept the conversation going with random stories about photography, ideas for poses, and of course jokes. I knew that we were both going to be in a place that we weren’t exactly comfortable and I wanted to use that uneasiness to my advantage rather than as a hinderance. After all this was new to both of us of course it wasn’t going to be easy!

By keeping the mood light and fun I was able to settle into a groove and get the most out of the session. I think I was even able to come away with a few quality shots for a first time outing.

This particular shot was taken after a rather funny moment allowing me to capture a simple, yet pure, laugh from Alycia and is one of my personal favorite shots from the entire session – I hope you like it as much as I do!

  1. It might just be my computer, but your new header is not showing up at all. Just thought I would let you know.

  2. What a great shot. Very professional, yet you’ve captured such a spontaneous expression! She’s gorgeous.

  3. Good job man, that’s the way to do it!

  4. Funny, cool tights – well done – greetings from Poland

  5. Is it just me, or is she wearing way too much makeup on her face? Makes her look pale and unhealthy. She would look better without.

    • To be honest I think that’s probably more my camera skills in shooting portraits than the model wearing too much makeup. I don’t think she was wearing much at all to be honest.

      Thanks for the comment.

  6. Great work! For a first time with a model, or for any amount of times. You’ve captured a beautifully genuine moment of laughter, and have done so with wonderfully artistic results. As well as your pretty model, I love the framing and colours of this, as well as the DoF. Well done!
