NEW – Monthly Photo Challenge
I’ve decided to try my hand at hosting a photography challenge in the month of December. It will mostly be for bragging rights and for the regular readers of Phogropathy to get to know each other a bit more. I asked my Facebook Fans about it last night and a handful of people were in support of it so I thought I’d get it started right away.
How Do You Participate?
- Step One – Like Phogropathy on Facebook
- Step Two – Submit your photos by sharing them on Phogropathy’s Wall
- Step Three – I, along with a few friends, will choose winners towards the end of the month.
Winners will be chosen towards the end of the month and will receive mentions on the blog as well as in the next issue of my Newsletter and of course all the bragging rights that go along with it!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Daily Photo – Starry Night
So this is my first attempt at what’s called – Astrophotography – which is simply shooting the night sky. I’ve always wanted to do this, but as you can probably tell by the massive amount of light pollution on the horizon line, I live in a densely populated area.
How I took it?
I waited for the recent moonless night as it’d be the darkest possible and went back to the same location I shot my Dock Sunrise Photo. I set my camera’s ISO to 3200 at f/2.8 and opened the shutter for 10 seconds to gather as much light as possible. If you see anything wrong with this let me know in the comments!
Despite the negatives of this photo, I wanted to share it with all of you, as it’s my first attempt at shooting the night sky, I’m hoping to learn and grow with more experience.
Have any of you attempted astrophotography? Feel free to link to your own photos in my comments below I’d love to see them, please include EXIF data so I can learn the techniques!
