The Orange Fungus on the Forest Floor

Hello everyone happy Sunday to you all!

Hurricane Irene is still a few hours from being at full force here where I am, but it’s looking like it’s not going to be as strong here as they were initially predicating – though it’ll still be a windy rainy mess.

Today’s Photo – The Orange Fungus on the Forest Floor

I saw this rather large cluster of some sort of fungus growing up out of the ground in the West HilL Dam forest area. Since I’ve walked through this forest so many times I’m trying to limit what I choose as a photographic subject to things I find interesting. I’ve started thinking more and more about whether it’s worth taking the shot or not.

This particular subject stuck out like a beacon of orange awesomeness and I knew it’d be something worth attempting to get a shot of. I really didn’t do much to the shot except for a little added sharpness, so you can probably tell how it came to be something that caught my attention.

Anyways, I wanted to make today’s post a quick one so that I could get it published before I lost power here so hope you’re all safe if you’re in the path of the storm and if you’re lucky enough to be elsewhere in this great world have yourself a nice Sunday!

Beautiful fungus!! that sounds a little odd… haha. Great DOF buddy. I hope everyone is safe after Irene!

    • Haha – Sounds like an oxymoron of sorts – Thanks!

And yes seems like everyone in the area is pretty safe I was lucky and only lost power for a few minutes while others seem to still be in the dark.
