I haven’t decided which aspect of photography I like more – Chasing the photo or processing the result. Each piece offers its own unique challenges and rewards. I love getting out into the wilderness and finding something unique to photograph, but at the same time, I love being able to take a photograph of something ordinary like a dirt pathway at sunset and turn it into something that pops off the screen. Maybe I just like the entire process of photography the same, but I’m sure there are some people out there that lean to one side of the fence or the other.
So with that being said, to all the photographers out there, what is your favorite aspect of photography? Creating the end product or finding the subject?

Today’s Photo – The Way Home
Sometimes I’m tempted to put up camp right at this very location and see what kind of shots I could get in the middle of one of those clear and dark nights. Of course there seems to be pretty strict rules about no camping and I know that the dam is manned at all times so I’m sure they’d find me and kick me out.
This clearing in the forest is huge though, a few hundred yards in every direction, which results in an awesome view of the skyline. At the very least I can get some cool perspectives of sunsets here.
So, on my way back to the top of the dam, where I wanted to capture the finale of the sunset, I did manage to set up the tripod and fire off a quick +1, 0, -1 set to get this photo. Hope you like it.
