I’ve always been interested in light painting, but I’ve rarely attempted it – This photo was taken almost a full year ago – Maybe I should get out and try again soon?
Daily Photo – The Tree of Light
To make this photo I set my camera up for a 30 second exposure at f/8 and ISO 400. I used a 10 second delay timer so that I could get myself into position and start spinning the flashlight (which was attached to a string) around my heady and body. As I spun the flashlight I moved myself in a tight circle so as to hopefully blur myself out of the image. While it’d be hard to tell that there was a person inside the ball of light I certainly didn’t complete the blur and my legs appeared to almost resemble the trunk of a tree – hence the name of this image ‘The Tree of Light’.
Anyway – I’ve looked at this photo numerous times over the last year – and almost shared it a few of those times. But always was afraid of showing something that wasn’t exactly as good as I’d envisioned it to be. I hope that by showing this photo I’ll be able to get out soon and try again.
